Thematic and methodological focus of the proposed courses/laboratories

Giulia Setti is an architect and PhD in Architectural and Urban Design at Politecnico di Milano; I have been teaching at Politecnico di Milano since 2015 in Design Studio both in Bachelor and Master program. In the last three years I’m teaching Architectural Design Studio 2, focusing on housing complex in the Milan context.

The methodological approach proposed by the Studio addresses the relationship with the context and the urban form of the city; trying to help students to identify and discuss the ‘shape’ of the city.

My research interests open to different fields; I’m interested in understanding urban transformation, focusing on regeneration and reuse of industrial buildings, topic also of my PhD research. I have been involved in researches on informal settlements and nature of public spaces in different contexts like India and China.
